This Privacy Policy explains how QuietGlance collects, uses, and shares information when you use our iOS app, widgets, and related services.

QuietGlance is built around family status sharing. We aim to minimize unnecessary location retention and to keep sensitive processing on your device whenever practical.

Information We Collect

Account information

• Email address
• Display name or nickname
• Profile or family picture you choose to upload
• Authentication identifiers from Sign in with Apple or Google

Family and status information

• Family names, invite codes, membership, and roles
• Status definitions and colors you configure
• Each member’s current status and when it was last updated
• Saved places and geofence settings you create
• Optional home-city region used for commuting-style statuses

Device and technical information

• App version, device type, and diagnostic logs needed to keep the Service reliable
• Push tokens used to refresh widgets or deliver service notifications

Location

If you enable location permissions, your device may determine whether you enter or leave places you configured. QuietGlance uses this to update status; it is not designed to publish a continuous live map of your path to other members.

How Status and Location Work

Geofence monitoring runs through Apple’s location frameworks on your device. When a place event occurs, QuietGlance updates the relevant status and syncs that status to your family through our backend.

Other family members typically see your status label and update time—not a continuous GPS trail. Behavior can vary based on permissions, battery, connectivity, and system limits on background activity.

Sharing

We share information with:

• Other members of families you join or create, as needed for the product
• Service providers that host authentication, database, and file storage infrastructure
• Apple, for App Store purchases and related subscription management
• Authorities when required by law or to protect users’ safety and rights

We do not sell your personal information.

Retention and Security

We keep account and family data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account; some records may remain for a limited period for security, backup, or legal reasons.

We use safeguards such as encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children

QuietGlance is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us.

Your Choices

• Update profile and family settings in the app
• Change or revoke Location, Notification, and related permissions in iOS Settings
• Leave a family or ask an owner to remove a member
• Manage or cancel Plus subscriptions in your Apple Account settings
• Contact us to request access or deletion where applicable

International Users

QuietGlance may process data in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. Your information may therefore be transferred to jurisdictions with different data-protection rules than your own.

Changes and Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice when appropriate.
